Video calls made easy

THE BRIEF

To drive awareness of video-conferencing challenger brand Whereby as lockdown restrictions lifted.

How we approached it

Whereby is committed to flexible, happiness-driven working habits and helping people host better meetings. And yes, sometimes that means having no meeting at all.

To spread the ‘no meetings are better than bad meetings’ message, we helped overworked journalists across the UK enjoy “freedom day” just like everyone else. We sent various media workers life-sized, cardboard cut-outs of themselves to place in front of their laptops and fake meeting attendance while they worked from home.

They got the day off, and Whereby sparked new conversations about meeting etiquette with this playful, tongue-in-cheek campaign.

Through W+P’s impressive network, they provided incredible opportunities to tell our story, creating those ‘wow’ moments that got people talking globally.

The results were incredible – they achieved vast earned media reach that set the media agenda. Ultimately, this provided me the ultimate success metric, linking the brand to a wide variety of new consumers.

“I've engaged many PR companies over the years, it's always a great sales presentation followed by an expensive ongoing retainer. W+P is delightfully and refreshingly different, it's as if the team are a part of ours.

I hope others don't find out just how good W+P is, we really want to keep them all to ourselves”
