THE BRIEF

To highlight the negative perception some VCs have towards parenthood, in particular mothers, and how this stunts or discourages female-led ventures.

How we approached it

On her journey to grow the business, co-founder Steph Hind faced scrutiny and prejudice from potential investors when they discovered she was pregnant.

We worked with Heka to challenge the negative perceptions about leading a business after having a child, encouraging more long-term support for women in the tech community.

Working with key media titles to tell this sensitive story, we placed multiple thought-provoking interviews and opinion articles highlighting the challenges Heka had faced. Steph also provided advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The results were incredible – they achieved vast earned media reach that set the media agenda. Ultimately, this provided me the ultimate success metric, linking the brand to a wide variety of new consumers.

“I've engaged many PR companies over the years, it's always a great sales presentation followed by an expensive ongoing retainer. W+P is delightfully and refreshingly different, it's as if the team are a part of ours.

I hope others don't find out just how good W+P is, we really want to keep them all to ourselves”
